Why every one passes
Gradient galleries are judged by how they look as a swatch, and a swatch never has a headline on it. Measured at the worst pixel, 146 of the 382 gradients in uiGradients and 39 of the 180 in WebGradients carry neither white nor black text at 4.5:1 anywhere, and every one of those passes on average, which is the figure most checkers give.
So these 128 were made the other way round. The names and hues were chosen here, and the gradient generator’s own engine then set the lightness until the text colour cleared 4.5:1 over every pixel, the blend kept its chroma through the middle, and grain was added wherever a large screen would show bands. 63 take white text and the other 65 take black. None is copied from another gallery.
What the figures on each card mean
Text, worst pixel is the lowest WCAG 2 contrast ratio of white and of black text over the whole gradient, so the text can sit anywhere on it. The colour in bold is the one to use, and the sample on the swatch is set in it.
Midpoint chroma compares the gradient as shipped, blended in OKLCH, with the same stops written in hex, which browsers blend in sRGB. Each figure is the share of colour kept at the point where the hex version is weakest, with a dot of each. Under half reads as grey. A mesh is a stack of layers that every browser blends in sRGB, so its card gives the weakest painted pixel instead.
Bands at 1440px is the widest run of one 8-bit colour across a full-width hero, with no dithering. 51 of the 128 would show stripes in a renderer that does not dither, so they carry 3% grain, which breaks the bands up in every browser.
