Merge PDF

Combine any number of PDFs, in the order you choose.

What merging PDFs is

Copying the pages of several documents into one new document in a chosen order. Page content, images and in-page links are carried across as objects; what does not survive is anything that referenced pages by object across the old file boundaries.

What this tool does that others do not

  • No file limit, because there is no server to meter

Merging is the one operation every service offers and almost every service caps, because each merge costs the provider compute time on a rented machine. This one runs on yours, so there is nothing to ration — the practical ceiling is available memory, which for text documents is thousands of pages.

iLovePDF allows 25 files per merge; Smallpdf gates batching behind a subscription; CloudConvert counts it against ten conversions a day.

  • Encrypted documents are decrypted, not papered over

Enter the password once and the pages are decoded properly before they are copied. This matters more than it sounds: several merge tools built on the common open-source library cannot decrypt at all, and merging an encrypted file through them produces blank pages with no error at all.

How to use it

  1. Add every document, in any order

The list is reorderable afterwards, and there is no count to stay under.

  2. Enter passwords where you are asked for them

That prompt is the tool telling you the file is genuinely encrypted, which is worth knowing before you distribute the merged result.

  3. Check the order in the list, then combine

The output follows the list exactly, so the list is the only thing to verify.

Worked example

Real input, real figures.

Combining a hundred scanned pages

You give it

Twenty scanned PDFs of five pages each.

You get

One document, with no per-file cap and no queue. Scans are slower than text because the images are larger, but the constraint is your own memory rather than a limit somebody set.

Guide

What it will not do

  • Document-level bookmarks and the outline tree are not carried across. They reference pages by object rather than by number, and rebuilding that mapping across several documents is unreliable. Links inside a page remain.

Questions people ask

Straight answers. Each one links directly: copy the address after opening it.

Is there a limit on how many PDFs I can merge?

No. Nothing is uploaded, so there is no server time to pay for and no reason to cap you. The real limit is your device’s memory — a few thousand pages of text is unremarkable, and a hundred scanned pages at full resolution will be slower than ten.

Can I merge a password-protected PDF?

Yes, if you know the password. You will be asked for it once and the document is decrypted properly before its pages are copied. This matters: several merge tools built on the common open-source library cannot decrypt at all, and merging an encrypted file through them produces blank pages with no error.

Nothing leaves your device

Your file is read into this tab and worked on there. It is never uploaded, which is why there is no queue, no daily limit and no account, and why the tool still works with the network switched off.
