Why you are converting away from the better format
WebP is almost always the smaller file, so converting to PNG makes it bigger — often two to four times. That is the right trade only when something downstream cannot read WebP, which in 2026 means older design software, some print workflows, and a surprising number of internal corporate tools.
The conversion is lossless in the sense that matters: if the WebP was itself lossy, the PNG preserves exactly the pixels that WebP produced, artefacts included. PNG cannot recover detail that WebP discarded. What you get is a larger file containing the same image.
Nothing is uploaded
The conversion runs in this tab. There is no upload step, so no queue, no daily limit and no account — and you can disconnect from the network and it still works. The same engine powers theimage converter, which handles any combination and unlimited batches, and theimage compressor, which makes a file smaller without changing its format. Both sit underConverters.
