Unlock PDF
Remove a password you already know from a document.
or drop it here
Nothing is uploaded. Your file never leaves this tab.
What unlocking a PDF is
Removing password protection from a document you can already open, by decrypting it with the password and writing the pages into a fresh unencrypted document. It is not password recovery, which is a different thing that nothing honest offers.
What this tool does that others do not
For documents you have the password for
Useful when a bank statement or payslip arrives encrypted and you want to file it without typing a password every time it is opened.
It is not a cracker, and says so
There is no way to remove a password you do not know. AES-256 is not brute-forceable in any useful timeframe, and tools advertising this either only strip owner-password permission flags — a different and much weaker thing — or are not doing what they claim.
The password is used locally
Decryption happens in this tab. You can disconnect from the network before entering it and the tool works exactly the same.
How to use it
Check which password you have
A user password is needed to open the document at all; an owner password only restricts actions like printing, and readers may ignore it anyway.
Enter it and decrypt
The pages are copied into a new, unencrypted document.
Store the unlocked copy somewhere appropriate
It has no protection now, which was the point, and is worth a thought before it lands in a shared folder.
Worked example
Real input, real figures.
A statement that asks for a password every time
You give it
A bank PDF encrypted with a known user password.
You get
An unencrypted copy with the same pages. The original stays as it is on disk, and the password is never sent anywhere — disconnect first and the result is identical.
Against a “PDF password remover”
| Aspect | This tool | A tool claiming to remove unknown passwords |
|---|---|---|
| Password required | Yes, the one you already have | Advertised as not required |
| What it actually removes | User-password encryption, properly | Usually only owner permission flags |
| Where it runs | Your browser | Their server, with your document |
Guide
For documents you can already open
This removes password protection from a PDF you have the password for — useful when a bank statement or payslip arrives encrypted and you want to file it without typing a password every time.
It is not a cracker. There is no way to remove a password you do not know, and any tool claiming otherwise is either lying or doing something you should not trust with your documents. The password is used locally to decrypt, then the pages are copied into a fresh unencrypted document.
Questions people ask
Straight answers. Each one links directly: copy the address after opening it.
Can you remove a password I do not know?
No, and neither can anything else that is honest about it. AES-256 is not brute-forceable in any useful timeframe. Tools that advertise this either only handle owner-password permission flags — which is a different and much weaker thing — or they are not doing what they say.
What is the difference between a user and an owner password?
The user password is needed to open the document at all. The owner password only restricts actions like printing, and readers may ignore it. Removing an owner restriction is trivial and not really "unlocking"; removing a user password requires knowing it.
Is my password sent anywhere?
No. Decryption happens in this tab. You can disconnect from the network before entering it and the tool works exactly the same.
Nothing leaves your device
Your file is read into this tab and worked on there. It is never uploaded, which is why there is no queue, no daily limit and no account, and why the tool still works with the network switched off.
